After 11 and half years at St Luke's it was with mixed emotions that we announced on Sunday that the Beavis family will be leaving St Luke's. Adrian has been appointed to be vicar of Christ Church Woking, and will be leaving St Luke's in January 2020 to start his new role.
We are both sad and excited with this news, sad that we will be saying goodbye, but at the same time excited for the Beavises as they have had a clear sense that this is where God is calling them. Some of the exact details of moving and starting the new job still have to be worked out. The good news is that we still have them until just after Christmas!
Our Church Wardens have rightly said, this is not Adrian's church, it's not St Luke's church, it's God's church. God will continue to be at work in our church and community. Through change and challenge, God asks us to seek Him and to trust Him. We want to be in a posture of trust and expectancy in all that God has for us in the new season to come.
Pray for the Beavis family
As they make preparations for the move, including finding schools for the children. For Ella, Sam and Josh in the changes they face with a new home, town, church and school. That they will transition well as a family and become quickly rooted in their new community.
Pray for Christ Church Woking
They will be going through a similar experience as us. Pray for their vicar Peter and his family as they move. For their staff team and congregation. For the preparations they will make in welcoming the Beavises.
Pray for us as a church
For the leadership and staff team as they step up in January. For all the preparations that need to be made. For wisdom and discernment in the process of finding a new vicar for St Luke's.
