...a local church for a global community
God Loves Earls Court week happened in the summer of 2010. It was a week of serving the local community and spreading thwe message of the Gospel. Grab a coffee and read all about what happened...
Serving at the Street Feast
Today was the first day of the God Loves Earls Court week of events! The week is designed to create space for everyone in the community to come and have a good time and find out a little bit more about Gods Love...
It was a great day with a very successful launch of the Little Lukes playgroup, with over 40 parents and carers with their children coming along to have time to chat and play. In the afternoon The Earls Court Community Project hosted a Street Feast for Homeless and vulnerable people, and this was an amazing time with entertainment and a free meal and loads of conversation. The presentation also connected our guests with the gospel in a profound and very tasty way!
Thanks to all those who have volunteered so far...you are great! We look forward to the next few days of events!
Little Lukes Launch
The art cafe got off to a great start today...
The team putting it together have created such a good, chilled out space enabling people to come in and relax whilst they appreciate the art around them and think about our creator God.
At 7pm there was a brilliant presentation with live music and drama, followed by some amazing live art.
We will let the pictures tell the story below and just say come tomorrow because it's great with.... great cakes, chilled space, and awesome performances!
The end of another great day at the art cafe is approaching as I write, and it has been another brilliant chilled-out day of music, art and drama. This is definately a day that has opened our eyes to what we can achieve when we follow God's vision to create a space for the community.
From the daytime relaxed visitors downing coffee and amazing cakes whilst doing some well needed thinking and reading, to the evening with more smooth tunes from our live musician 'Jon Tearne' as I speak, and more live art. It is great to see people engaging with the performers and asking lots of questions about art, life, expression and God.
Behind me as we come to an end people are making their own art, their own expressions of the heart to God the great creator. Thanks so much to the team for all their effort, passion and energy in putting this together! And thanks to everyone for coming and engaging, we look forward to tomorrow, which brings the penultimate day of God Loves Earls Court and many different nations of food at 'Taste and See' the international food fair...
See you tomorrow! Scroll down for more pictures of today
The International food fair is almost over as I write and has indeed been a festival of nations and wonderful food!
The church was a great venue for over 100 people to come and sample food from many different nations around the world prepared expertly by our congregation members. And whilst the adults sampled all the food and had a good chat the children were kept busy on the bouncy castle.
Today has been a great symbol of the love of God for the area, uniting people together in one building and sharing that Christ like love with visitors rich and poor. Thanks again to al who were involved and did such a great job!
